      <image:title>Recipes - Tagliatelle Ragu - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>The Ragu: A classic red sauce typically features garlic, tomato purée, and ground beef. But the addition of fennel seeds, oregano, and parsley adds a layer of aromatic depth. A touch of butter enhances the richness, bringing out the flavors even more. The intensity is elevated with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon and a pinch of sugar, which highlights the natural sweetness of the tomatoes. The flavor only deepens and tastes better over time, making it even more tasty after being refrigerated. The Pasta: Any long noodle pairs great with ragu, but tagliatelle gives a delicate texture that coats so nicely with the sauce. Buttery egg noodles also work and even semolina-dried pasta is a solid choice. But you can never go wrong with fresh pasta. Its tender bite and ability to absorb the sauce make it an unbeatable option.</image:caption>

<image:title>Recipes - Tagliatelle Ragu - I can’t forget to mention—the bright acidity of the sauce also goes with the creamy richness of burrata. Just a required option to elevate the entire dish and experience :)</image:title>

<image:title>Recipes - Roasted Veggie Platter - This recipe is a special tray of oven roasted cherry tomatoes, onions, squash, and artichoke. To add some flavor I made three creamy and hearty dips of hummus cream, pistachio yogurt, and Tess Masters’ sweet potato and cashew from The Perfect Blend (a very treasured and highly recommended cookbook). The best part of this is brought together with a flaky and savory sun-dried tomato flatbread, fresh out of the oven.</image:title>
<image:caption>There are a few steps involved to bring this beautiful assortment together. I highly advise to prep the dips in advance of the veggies and flatbread— which is where I’ll begin!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Roasted Veggie Platter - The Dips</image:title>
<image:caption>Sweet Potato and Cashew I’ve been making this dip for about 2 years now and it is a spoon-licking favorite at home. Tess Masters never disappoints! It’s a creamy sweet dip that works wonders with any veggies and other snacks like crackers. This will be the first dip to make since it takes the longest, and yields half the serving size of Tess’ original recipe. Start by preheating the oven to 400 degrees F. Wrap the sweet potato in foil and bake for an hour until soft. Allow for it to cool and remove the skin and mash the flesh. Set 1/2 cup of it aside. Leave the oven to 400. Heat up 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic with a pinch of salt and sautee for about 5 minutes or until soft and fragrant. Set on the side to cool. In a high-speed blender, add the remaining olive oil with the lemon juice, vinegar, mashed sweet potato, and the rest of the ingredients. Blend on high for about 1 minute until smooth and creamy. Serve in a dipping bowl or cup and set aside. Hummus Cream (As shown in photo on left) And now for the easiest dip of the platter. Bring all the ingredients in a bowl and mix until creamy. Serve in a dipping bowl or cup and garnish with parsley.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Pizza Dough - Knead It Out.</image:title>
<image:caption>Turn the dough onto a lightly floured work surface. Gently knead until the dough is smooth, about 3-4 minutes. It should be pretty stretchy at this point. Cut the dough into 4 and 1/2 pieces weighing about 8 ounces. It’s ok if the final piece is a bit small than the rest.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Pizza Dough - That’s A Wrap!</image:title>
<image:caption>Wrap the dough in saran wrap/ large ziplock bag and refrigerate overnight. You can refrigerate for several hours before use. But for a crispier texture, allowing the dough to rise produces best result. The longer you leave it to rise, the better the pizza will come out. You may also store them in the freezer to use them in the future. When you are ready to use the dough, form the pieces into a round ball and place on a flour dusted surface or a baking tray layered with parchment paper. Flour lightly and top with a towel to let it rise in a warm area for 30 minutes. The dough should expand to 10 inches in diameter. You can also roll the dough out flat with a rolling pin, add your toppings, and place in oven. Either way works great. But keep in mind that slow rise will give you that fluffy, crispy bread.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Place your dutch oven/skillet over your burner, turn the heat over medium, drizzle some olive oil, and let that baby get nice and hot. Toss in the onions first and sautee until their soft and fragrant. Then add in some minced garlic and only cook for a minute until they’re fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Whirl and stir occasionally.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Baked Risotto - The Toasted Rice</image:title>
<image:caption>Under the same medium-low heat, toss the rice and add some salt and pepper to begin layering some of the seasoning. Make sure you stir around occasionally and cook for 2 minutes until you see the rice a little toasty. Confession: this part scared me. I’m not used to seeing rice being cooked without water. But this is why it’s important to trust the process and yourself and pray it doesn’t stick and burn. Toasting just adds another layer of taste for this dish. While its subtle, you do taste it. I’ll never cook rice the same after this.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Baked Risotto - The Finale</image:title>
<image:caption>By now your risotto should have gone from a brothy soup to a creamy goop :). The rice has done its magic by soaking up all the ingredients like a sponge and tenderized in the oven. Now its time to bring it all together in a flavor bomb. Stir in the spinach and peas until the spinach has wilted. Then toss in some freshly grated parmesan, butter, and lemon juice and stir. You should be getting a saucy and creamy consistency. For a final touch, sprinkle some salt flakes, a little pepper, some parmesan, and some love once you serve them in a bowl. And as you savor and take all that in, I’ll leave you for a third serving for myself. Enjoy!</image:caption>

<image:title>Recipes - Cilantro Lime Chickpeas - Broth, Curry, Ginger, and Seasoning.</image:title>
<image:caption>Next add the ginger, low sodium veggie broth, curry powder, salt, and nutritional yeast. Bring the pot to a boil and stir very well to make sure the seasoning is evenly distributed and the contents cook. Then settle to cook on medium-low heat for 5 minutes. It’s important to always be mindful about how much heat and temperature you put into cooking the broth. You don’t want to cook on high all the time or the flavors will get muted and may even taste bitter. I usually keep the heat medium-low when sauteeing before bringing it to high-boil when adding broth. Letting it simmer for a little while unlocks all the flavors in the ingredients. Slow and steady wins the race!</image:caption>

This is just to make sure that the water is salted perfectly. You don’t want it too salty or too bland, otherwise your yuccas will come out tasting a little funky. Cook under medium heat for about 25-30 minutes. Once they’ve cooked, don’t drain all the water out. Pour some of it in a cup and set aside for later. It’s ok to leave the yucca in some of water after it’s cooked. But don’t wait more than half an hour to take them out! In the meantime, you can start preheating your oven to 425F.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Shakshuka Yucca - The Roasted Tomatoes</image:title>
<image:caption>Place your prepped tomatoes facing up in a small skillet and set them in the oven to cook for 15 minutes. You’ll want them to come out soft and tender, but make sure they’re not running either. The tomatoes will offer up that bold taste and bring out the tomato sauce. Once they’re done, take them out of the oven and set them aside for later. To keep them warm you can cover them with aluminum foil or stick them in the microwave.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Shakshuka Yucca - The Onions</image:title>
<image:caption>Heat up the olive oil under medium-high heat and add in the onions. Sautee them until they’re translucent, about 3-4 minutes. You can also detect your onions are close to being ready once they’re fragrant and start making the kitchen smell wonderful. Making your onions sweat enhances sweetness and tenderizes the texture.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Shakshuka Yucca - Peppers and Mushrooms</image:title>
<image:caption>Once your onions are soft and smell delicious, you’ll add the orange and red bell peppers and mushrooms. Cook until soft and fragrant for about 3-5 minutes under medium heat.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Shakshuka Yucca - The Broth</image:title>
<image:caption>By now, your veggies should be tender but not soggy. The next step is to add the low sodium veggie broth, yucca water, white vinegar, tomato paste, garlic, salt, coriander, taco seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir it all up and mix it up well and cook under medium-low heat for 5-7 minutes. The yucca water functions the same way it would with pasta water. The starch not only adds a rich taste, but it also preps the tomato sauce to become thicker. A little note on the garlic: make sure to only crush it with your knife against the cutting board. Try to avoid completely smashing which provides the kind of bitterness you don’t want in your dish. Keep its original bean like shape when you do crush it, and the taste will release once its cooked in the broth.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Shakshuka Yucca - The Mix</image:title>
<image:caption>Now that your yuccas are soft and starchy, you’ll mix them with the veggie blend in your skillet. Add one yucca at a time while stirring so you have room to coat each one individually. If the size is too big, you can cut the yucca and stir them in. They do get very sticky so make sure to gently stir them around and coating them with enough of the sauce.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Shakshuka Yucca - The Eggs</image:title>
<image:caption>Finally you’ll crack 4 eggs on top of your mixture. Do this gently so you don’t have the yolk running (I speak from a frustrating experience). Place the skillet directly into the oven and bake for 8 to 12 minutes. The eggs are the tricky part because you can’t tell when they’ll be ready. I like my yolk a little cooked so I left it in the oven for about 10-15 minutes. If you like them runny, I’d leave them in for about 8 minutes. Keep checking every 6 minutes to see how they look to determine when they should be done baking. Just keep in mind to not undercook your eggs so you don’t get sick!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Shakshuka Yucca - The Toppings</image:title>
<image:caption>The last and final steps are the toppings. I added spinach, my roasted tomatoes, goat cheese, red pepper flakes, ground black pepper, and poppy seeds. But here’s the great news, you can add anything you’d like as toppings! Enjoy the delicious creamy and slightly spicy dish served in a bowl with some bread.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Banana Cranberry Pancake - The Flour Mix:</image:title>
<image:caption>You’ll start off with all purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a medium bowl, whisk them well and put them on the side. I love my pancakes subtly sweet so I used brown sugar instead of white. Brown sugar gives a caramel flavor that enhances once you add the maple syrup.</image:caption>

      <image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5fbbc29fe7157107b90e6b63/1607086360198-521SOGS3OOS1BB1J8U6E/IMG-1752.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Recipes - Banana Cranberry Pancake - The Banana Mix:</image:title>
<image:caption>In a medium sized bowl, you’ll first mash the banana to a smooth texture, and then add two large eggs. Use a fork to mix all the contents and then add milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Melt the butter in the microwave beforehand. You’ll want to have an over-ripe banana. This means that those old brown bananas that are wilting away on your kitchen counter should not be thrown away! The browner the sweeter and they’re great for recipes like this one. For this mix, I’ve substituted plant based milk and butter using oat milk and earth balance vegan butter. I love heavy cream, but pancakes have a delicate essence to them I think goes very well with lighter ingredients such as plant-based ones while still being a very substantial dish. Oat milk also tastes just like cows milk but with a sweeter and thicker touch than almond or even cashew milk.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Banana Cranberry Pancake - The Holy Union</image:title>
<image:caption>Next, you’ll pour the banana mix into the flour mix. Grab a silicone spatula or large spoon (wooden would be preferable but any spoon works perfect), and gently mix and fold the contents. Be careful not to over mix to not thin the batter out. This is probably why hand mixing might be best for this process. Don’t worry if it looks lumpy and doesn’t blend in together, it’s supposed to look a little bit like overnight oats.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Banana Cranberry Pancake - The Pan</image:title>
<image:caption>On a medium to large griddle or pan, heat up vegetable oil and a thin slice from a butter stick under medium heat. Never heat up oil on high heat. You’ll burn things out too quickly and the flavor will be compromised. For extra protection from setting your pancakes on fire, the vegetable oil will actually prevent the butter from burning. This is something I recently learned making this recipe. Thanks for the tip Jen :). Once the oil is hot but not spatting out of control, you’ll first take 1/4 cup of the batter and pour it slowly onto the pan and cook until the underside is golden brown and the top bubbles up. I cooked one at a time to give me some space to flip. But you can always do two if your pan is big enough. For shaping, I cooked about three 1/4 cups of batter to make three 4-inched pancakes. I then spooned out 1/2 cup of batter for three more pancakes. For the remainder I made bigger rounded pancakes like the one in this picture.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipes - Banana Cranberry Pancake - The Toppings</image:title>
<image:caption>You knew it was coming. Once you’re done stacking, spread some cranberry sauce in between each pancake as you go up the pile. Garnish with cranberries and you can top it off with bananas. If you ran out of fresh bananas like me, you can use apples or any other kind of fruit. Glaze some maple syrup, sprinkle some cinnamon, and you are set for the morning!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Reimagining a cultural identity for survival can be unapologetic and impossible to ignore. Artists like Bad Bunny, have a way of making both cultural shift and preservation feel alive and intentional. His latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, has been regarded by Johanna Godinez in Latin Biz a “cultural love letter to Puerto Rico,” that keeps the culture alive by blending traditional Puerto Rican genres such as plena, bomba, jíbaro, folk sounds, salsa, and modern beats like reggaeton, house, and urbano. Moreover, he’s become global without diluting his linguistic and cultural roots for broader appeal by singing mostly in Spanish, showcasing local rhythms, and dropping symbols that hit home for the Latinx diaspora.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Slop Bowls and the Art of Doing Just Enough</image:title>
<image:caption>My recent Chipotle meal highlights this point: The lettuce was crisp, the chicken was a little salty but well-seasoned, the cheese was only a small sprinkle, and the small amount of pico I added gave it a pretty strong zest. The portion was filling without being excessive and, for calorie tracking purposes, I’d say it was pretty reliable. But a big trade-off of all this was that the flavor profile was undetectable since everything was completely blurred. Everything lands somewhere between acidic and spicy, without any single ingredient standing on its own. The sauce I used on the side and little of carried most of the taste because everything else was toned down, hot and cold temperatures collapsed into a lukewarm middle, and each bite tasted identical. The beans, the rice, the chicken, the lettuce were all homogenized in a creamy tangy bowl without any contrast between the ingredients.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - A Love Letter to Spain - “There are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature. Therefore, buildings must have no straight lines or sharp corners.”- Gaudi</image:title>
<image:caption>Barcelona’s signature styles include Art Nouveau elements which had been introduced in the late 19th century. One highlighted feature of this art form are curved compositions with colorful mosaics, a pattern Gaudi took and ran with in his work. His design clearly reflect why Casa Batlló feels so organic, surreal, and “alive” — its curves, flowing shapes, mosaics, and nature-inspired details all follow from Gaudí’s belief that architecture should mirror natural forms.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - A Love Letter to Spain - In one of his reinterpretative works, Picasso invites us to revisit Velázquez’s Las Meninas (on the left), where he deconstructs this masterpiece into playful, abstract shapes and perspectives. He rearranges the composition, abstracting the characters, shifting focus, and turning the princess, servants, and even Velázquez himself into ghostlike forms. The effect is striking: it’s both a tribute and a reinvention, a conversation between centuries that feels modern, experimental, and entirely him.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - A Love Letter to Spain - Sandwiched between the historic grandeur of the Prado and the playful experimentation of the Picasso Museum is the Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid’s modern art haven. Here, the energy feels more edgy, provocative, and surreal. One of the pieces that caught my eye was Dalí’s dreamlike paintings, where reality seems to melt and bend, and every object has a strange, otherworldly quality. Walking through the galleries, you can see how Dalí and other modern masters pushed Spanish art into bold, unexpected directions. The Reina Sofía is a reminder that Spanish creativity isn’t just about tradition and royal portraiture—it can also be unsettling, inventive, and completely off the rails.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - An Indulgent Week - Monday: Vegan phở at Nom Nam</image:title>
<image:caption>One of the best Vietnamese spots in the city, this place quickly became a favorite of mine in Murray Hill after discovering it in late 2023, when I started treating myself to long, leisurely lunch breaks. I still remember my first taste of their pho and how fresh every ingredient tasted. The crispness of bok choy, onion, and bean sprouts, the kale marinated in a rich veggie broth, the perfectly cooked noodles—firm yet yielding a soft texture—and the tangy-sweet kick from lime, jalapeños, and Thai basil. Each element comes together in a way that’s both vibrant and satisfying.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - An Indulgent Week - Wednesday: Rigatoni Pesto at Tarallucci e Vino</image:title>
<image:caption>When dining at Italian restaurants in the city, I always look for fresh pasta and generous portions. Unfortunately, I find that many places fall short on both. But here, the hearty ingredients make up for what initially seems like a small portion. Al dente rigatoni tossed in a fragrant, herbal pesto and topped with rich, creamy burrata—it was a great meal for the middle of the week.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - An Indulgent Week - Chrissy’s</image:title>
<image:caption>If you ask anyone who knows me, I never shut up about how incredible the Italian and Polish food scene is in Brooklyn. But I also always say it has my favorite pizza slices in all five boroughs, and Chrissy’s is no exception. Originally a pandemic pop-up, Chrissy’s is a spot for a classic NYC pie. The menu is simple but spot-on—offering just the essentials: plain, pepperoni, special, and vegan red. It’s decked out in nostalgic red-and-yellow tiled walls and VHS tapes playing from a small TV on the counter as music blasts from a Marshall amp.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - An Indulgent Week</image:title>
<image:caption>It was an ideal harmony between bread, sauce, and cheese. The tomato sauce is sweet, fresh, and juicy. The cheese, melting across the slice on a classic white paper plate, delivers a creamy, indulgent texture that makes every bite more satisfying. It’s a little on the oily side, but surprisingly, none of that heaviness lingers. My husband and I devoured three slices each, leaving us both content and serene. If you’re planning to visit, just know you can only order a whole pie :)</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - An Indulgent Week - Intermission at The Chocolate Room</image:title>
<image:caption>We had been waiting since 4 p.m. for our 9 p.m. reservation at Lucali’s (more on that later). As we passed the time and savored our first pizza of the night, we decided to break the rules and mix up our meal order. With the temperature dropping to a brisk 23°F, it felt like the perfect excuse to indulge in some hot chocolate. Just a 30-minute train ride from Greenpoint, we found The Chocolate Room in Carroll Gardens. Charmed with its Parisian ambiance, this cozy spot has some rich, spicy dark hot chocolate, topped with a fluffy marshmallow swirl and stirred with creamy chocolate spoons.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - An Indulgent Week - Lucali’s</image:title>
<image:caption>After our sweet retreat, we headed over to Lucali’s for our 9 p.m. reservation. As I mentioned earlier, we had been waiting since 4 p.m. for our spot. Lucali’s has a first-come, first-seated, no reservation approach to their customers. Most people start lining up around 3 p.m. just to secure a reservation for 8:30 p.m. or earlier, depending on where they land in line. While the restaurant opens at 5 p.m., they begin taking names at 4 p.m. to accommodate the eager, hungry crowd. They know how to amp up the hype, which makes the chase pretty exciting. So a good tip is to get there as early as you can, and be ready to wait for possibly a later table. It was absolutely worth the wait. By now, we were pretty full from Chrissy’s and the hot chocolate, but we were determined to push through. That first bite left us torn between what was now two amazing pizza spots. Chrissy’s creamy cheese or Lucali’s light, crispy crust? Chrissy’s hearty tomato sauce or Lucali’s delicate marinara? Ultimately, we concluded that both were equally delicious and completely different. Chrissy’s had a Brooklyn vibe—rich with sauce, cheese, and oil. They got that urban ambiance, furnished with a Steve Buscemi poster on the wall. Lucali’s, on the other hand, transported me to the subtly sweet and thin slices of Florence. It was the taste of Italy, captured both on my plate and in the vibrant, rustic charm of the restaurant, evoking the lively atmosphere of a piazza. Chrissy’s felt playful, while Lucali’s was more charming. They offered its own unique and unforgettable experience.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - An Indulgent Week</image:title>
<image:caption>A tip for fellow pizza crawlers: Lucali’s only serves whole pies as well, but their menu also includes pasta and a variety of calzones. We opted for the artichoke calzone, and let me tell you—while the pizza was amazing, the calzone was disrespectfully delicious.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - An Indulgent Week - Saturday: Chocolate Croissant and Tea at Watchhouse Coffee</image:title>
<image:caption>Friday was evidently heavy so Saturday called for a light breakfast. Originating in South London and now with locations across the UK and on 5th Avenue, Watchhouse Coffee serves some of the most aromatic cups with rich flavor profiles—ideal for cozying up during the winter. I started with a refreshing lemongrass tea, followed by a deliciously moist and flaky chocolate croissant, which paired with a perfectly balanced matcha latte.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - An Indulgent Week - Scenes of New York</image:title>
<image:caption>Amid the Holiday Shops in Central Park, I came across a set of prints featuring bold contrasts of blue, yellow, and red. As I sifted through paintings of hot sauce, pretzels, and espresso martinis, one piece stood out—a print of everything that reminded me of New York. It caught the essence of the city so vividly, I could almost smell it coming off the paper. If you're looking for a visual representation of what NYC smells and tastes like, Lauren Greenfield Art offers magical prints that truly bring meals to life.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - An Indulgent Week - Ragu Wrap</image:title>
<image:caption>I wrapped up with a burst of creativity by crafting my ideal version of a pasta bowl. Keeping the carb adventure going, I prepped fresh ingredients, lit some candles, cranked up the music, poured myself a glass of prosecco, and ended up with a brothy and tangy ragu sauce over some velvety tagliatelle. Curious about the recipe? Check it out on the recipe blog ;)</image:caption>
